Export Sales Highlights   

This summary is based on reports from exporters for the period November 29-December 5, 2019. 

Wheat:  Net sales of 502,700 metric tons for 2019/2020 were up noticeably from the previous week and up 33 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases primarily for Japan (100,000 MT), the Philippines (85,900 MT, including 13,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,200 MT), Thailand (74,000 MT, including 10,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), unknown destinations (64,100 MT), and Indonesia (57,000 MT), were partially offset by reductions primarily for El Salvador (7,000 MT) and Italy (1,900 MT).  Exports of 389,500 MT were up 68 percent from the previous week, but down 4 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to Japan (71,900 MT), Mexico (56,600 MT), Thailand (55,700 MT), the Philippines (54,900 MT), and South Korea (29,900 MT).   

Corn:  Net sales of 873,500 metric tons for 2019/2020 were up 60 percent from the previous week and 28 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases primarily for Mexico (517,200 MT, including decreases of 2,800 MT), Japan (176,700 MT, including 59,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 2,600 MT), Canada (104,900 MT, including decreases of 21,200 MT), Colombia (53,900 MT, including 43,300 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 4,900 MT), and Panama (49,900 MT, including 7,200 MT switched from unknown destinations), were offset by reductions primarily for unknown destinations (67,400 MT), Guatemala (7,600 MT), and Nicaragua (4,100 MT).  For 2020/2021, total net sales of 2,400 MT were for Canada.  Exports of 531,400 MT were up 7 percent from the previous week, but down 12 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to Mexico (260,900 MT), Japan (81,900 MT), Colombia (76,000 MT), Panama (27,400 MT), and Honduras (23,100 MT).  

Optional Origin Sales:  For 2019/2020, new optional origin sales of 5,400 MT were reported for South Korea.  The current outstanding balance of 540,300 MT is for South Korea (393,400 MT), Israel (88,000 MT), and Egypt (58,900 MT).  

Barley: Total net sales reductions of 400 MT for 2019/2020--a marketing-year low--were reported for Japan.  Exports of 900 MT were down 10 percent from the previous week and 6 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were Japan (400 MT), South Korea (400 MT), and Taiwan (100 MT). 

Sorghum:  Net sales of 33,400 MT for 2019/2020 resulted in increases for Mexico (23,700 MT, including decreases of 900 MT) and Japan (14,800 MT, including 5,100 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 300 MT), were offset by reductions for unknown destinations (5,100 MT).  Exports of 16,200 MT were down 88 percent from the previous week and 67 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were Mexico (11,400 MT) and Japan (4,800 MT).  

Rice:  Net sales of 48,800 MT for 2019/2020 were up 16 percent from the previous week, but down 44 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases primarily for Haiti (15,200 MT), Mexico (11,100 MT), the United Kingdom (10,500 MT), Guatemala (4,000 MT, including decreases of 9,000 MT), and Saudi Arabia (3,300 MT), were partially offset by reductions for Japan (400 MT).  Exports of 83,900 MT were up 96 percent from the previous week and 67 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to Mexico (28,300 MT), Nicaragua (21,200 MT), Honduras (18,700 MT), Saudi Arabia (3,700 MT), and El Salvador (3,100 MT).   

Exports for Own Account:  For 2019/2020, the current exports for own account outstanding balance is 200 MT, all Canada. 

Soybeans:  Net sales of 1,050,100 MT for 2019/2020 were up 54 percent from the previous week, but down 17 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for unknown destinations (251,400 MT), (China (241,600 MT, including 66,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,100 MT), Bangladesh (175,900 MT, including 114,900 MT switched from unknown destinations), Japan (89,500 MT, including 46,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,600 MT), and Pakistan (70,000 MT).  For 2020/2021, total net sales of 125,000 MT were for unknown destinations.  Exports of 1,443,200 MT were down 4 percent from the previous week and 13 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to China (897,500 MT), Bangladesh (170,900 MT), Japan (124,400 MT), Mexico (57,200 MT), and South Korea (48,800 MT).  

Exports for Own Account:  For 2019/2020, the current exports for own account outstanding balance is 2,100 MT, all Canada. 

Soybean Cake and Meal:  Net sales of 238,600 MT for 2019/2020 were up 32 percent from the previous week and 17 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases primarily for Colombia (84,200 MT, including 9,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 3,500 MT), Peru (60,000 MT), Morocco (30,000 MT), the Dominican Republic (26,600 MT, including decreases of 2,300 MT), and Panama (15,200 MT, including decreases of 63,800 MT), were offset by reductions primarily for Mexico (16,700 MT), Guatemala (11,900 MT), and El Salvador (4,400 MT).  For 2020/2021, total net sales of 19,100 MT were for Mexico.  Exports of 175,200 MT were primarily to Colombia (32,100 MT), Mexico (28,700 MT), the Dominican Republic (25,400 MT), Honduras (23,400 MT), and Canada (16,600 MT). 

Soybean Oil:  Net sales of 30,000 MT for 2019/2020, primarily for Morocco (20,000 MT), Venezuela (10,900 MT, including 11,200 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 300 MT), Mexico (6,100 MT, including decreases of 200 MT), and Colombia (4,000 MT), were offset by reductions for unknown destinations (11,200 MT).  For 2020/2021, total net sales of 300 MT were reported for Mexico.  Exports of 15,400 MT were primarily to Venezuela (10,900 MT), Colombia (2,000 MT), Mexico (1,100 MT), and Honduras (1,000 MT).   

Cotton:  Net sales of 277,100 RB for 2019/2020 were up 69 percent from the previous week and 9 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases primarily for Turkey (80,100 RB), Pakistan (61,300 RB), Vietnam (52,300 RB, including 300 RB switched from South Korea and decreases of 1,900 RB), Bangladesh (19,200 RB), and Malaysia (17,600 RB), were offset by reductions for Thailand (1,500 RB).  For 2020/2021, net sales of 6,600 RB were for Vietnam (2,600 RB), Mexico (2,200 RB), and Indonesia (1,800 RB).  Exports of 186,300 RB were up 12 percent from the previous week and 21 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Exports were primarily to Vietnam (37,300 RB), China (28,500 RB), Pakistan (28,000 RB), Mexico (20,900 RB), and Bangladesh (15,100 RB).  Net sales of Pima totaling 5,800 RB were up 30 percent from the previous week, but down 29 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for India (4,400 RB), South Korea (600 RB), Japan (300 RB), Bangladesh (200 RB), and Guatemala (200 RB).  For 2020/2021, total net sales of 1,300 RB were for China.  Exports of 8,000 RB were up 12 percent from the previous week and 17 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were India (2,600 RB), El Salvador (1,200 RB), Pakistan (1,200 RB), Bangladesh (1,000 RB), and Vietnam (900 RB).  

Exports for Own account:  For 2019/2020, new exports for own account totaling 10,000 RB were to Bangladesh (4,300 RB), Vietnam (3,900 RB), and Malaysia (1,700 RB).  Exports for own account totaling 6,200 RB to Malaysia (2,700 RB), Vietnam (2,000 RB), and Bangladesh (1,500 RB) were applied to new or outstanding sales.  Decreases were reported for India (2,000 RB).  The current exports for own account outstanding balance of 23,800 RB is for India (11,000 RB), Bangladesh (6,700 RB), China (2,500 RB), Vietnam (1,900 RB), and Malaysia (1,700 RB).  

Hides and Skins: Net sales of 351,700 pieces reported for 2019 were down 25 percent from the previous week and 26 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales totaling 346,400 pieces primarily for China (240,000 pieces, including decreases of 48,900 pieces), South Korea (63,100 pieces, including decreases of 5,700 pieces), Mexico (42,600 pieces, including decreases of 100 pieces), Taiwan (1,500 pieces), and Spain (1,400 pieces), were offset by reductions primarily for Brazil (2,600 pieces).  For 2020, net sales of 129,000 pieces were primarily for China (100,500 pieces) and South Korea (15,400 pieces).  Exports of 515,100 pieces reported for 2019 were up 4 percent from the previous week and 12 percent from the prior 4-week average.   Whole cattle hide exports of 512,400 pieces were primarily to China (319,600 pieces), South Korea (123,200 pieces), Thailand (31,100 pieces), Mexico (29,900 pieces), and Taiwan (3,500 pieces). 

Net sales of 20,600 wet blues for 2019 were down 88 percent from the previous week and 83 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases primarily for Thailand (37,300 unsplit), Vietnam (27,600 unsplit), China (12,200 unsplit and 1,200 grain splits), and Taiwan (1,600 grain splits), were offset by reductions primarily for Italy (60,100 unsplit).  For 2020, net sales of 210,800 wet blues were primarily for Italy (108,400 unsplit), China (43,500 unsplit and 1,200 grain splits), Taiwan (26,100 unsplit), and Mexico (26,000 unsplit).  Exports of 106,200 wet blues for 2019 were down 21 percent from the previous week and 18 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Italy (36,500 unsplit and 3,600 grain splits), Thailand (31,700 unsplit), China (15,400 unsplit), and Vietnam (11,600 unsplit).  Total net sales of splits, 639,300 pounds for 2019, were primarily for Vietnam (636,400 pounds).  For 2020, total net sales reductions of 44,800 pounds were for Vietnam. Exports of 358,200 pounds were to Vietnam. 

Beef:  Net sales of 9,900 MT reported for 2019 were up noticeably from the previous week, but down 36 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases primarily South Korea (4,500 MT, including decreases of 600 MT), for Japan (3,400 MT, including decreases of 500 MT), Hong Kong (1,600 MT, including decreases of 300 MT), Mexico (1,100 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), and Taiwan (800 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), were partially offset by reductions primarily for Canada (3,000 MT).  For 2020, net sales of 2,000 MT primarily for South Korea (1,000 MT), were offset by reductions primarily for Hong Kong (700 MT).  Exports of 17,200 MT were up 18 percent from the previous week, but down 13 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to South Korea (5,000 MT), Japan (4,500 MT), Mexico (1,900 MT), Hong Kong (1,700 MT), and Taiwan (1,400 MT). 

Pork: Net sales of 29,200 MT reported for 2019 were down 5 percent from the previous week and 11 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for Mexico (13,900 MT), China (5,600 MT), Japan (5,200 MT), Canada (1,900 MT), and South Korea (600 MT).  For 2020, net sales of 15.600 MT primarily for Japan (11,400 MT), Mexico (2,700 MT), and Australia (2,100 MT), were offset by reductions primarily for China (4,000 MT).  Exports of 38,200 MT were up 16 percent from the previous week, but down 10 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were to China (13,900 MT), Mexico (11,100 MT), Japan (3,900 MT), South Korea (2,900 MT), and Canada (2,100 MT).
