Export Sales Highlights 

This summary is based on reports from exporters for the period August 26 – September 1, 2022.

Wheat: Net sales of 192,600 metric tons (MT) for 2022/2023, primarily for Mexico (132,700 MT, including decreases of 700 MT), Japan (91,200 MT), China (65,000 MT switched from South Korea), Thailand (56,000 MT), and Guatemala (36,000 MT, including 33,800 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 600 MT), were offset by reductions primarily for unknown destinations (116,600 MT), Ghana (75,000 MT), and South Korea (58,800 MT).  Exports of 546,600 MT were primarily to the Philippines (122,100 RB), South Korea (89,900 MT), Japan (59,800 MT), Mexico (53,500 RB), and Indonesia (49,900 MT). 

Corn:  Net sales of 816,000 MT for 2022/2023 marketing year which began September 1, primarily for Mexico (649,500 MT, including decreases of 61,500 MT), unknown destinations (60,300 MT), Honduras (38,100 MT), El Salvador (34,400 MT), and Guatemala (30,300 MT), were offset by reductions primarily for Colombia (20,000 MT).  A total of 1,037,900 MT in sales were carried over from the 2021/2022 marketing year, which ended August 31.  Total net sales of 30,500 MT for 2023/2024 were for Mexico.  Exports for the period ending August 31 of 1,014,800 MT brought accumulated exports to 59,763,700 MT, down 11 percent from the prior year’s total of 66,957,900 MT.  The primary destinations were to China (558,400 MT), Mexico (322,100 MT), Canada (52,600 MT), Japan (39,900 MT), and Honduras (24,700 MT).  Total exports of 36,800 MT for September 1 were to Mexico.

Optional Origin Sales:  For 2021/2022, options were exercised to export 65,000 MT to unknown destinations from other than the United States.  Decreases of 9,000 MT were reported for Saudi Arabia.

Barley:  No net sales or exports were reported for the week. 

Sorghum:  No net sales for the 2022/2023 marketing year which began September 1, were reported for the period.  A total of 23,800 MT in sales was carried over from the 2021/2022 marketing year, which ended August 31.  Exports for the period ending August 31 of 54,400 MT brought accumulated exports to 6,960,300 MT, up 1 percent from the prior year’s total of 6,913,400 MT.  The destinations were to China (49,800 MT) and Mexico (4,600 MT).  No exports were reported for September 1.  

Rice:  Net sales of 20,900 MT for 2022/2023 primarily for Haiti (15,200 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), Canada (2,900 MT), Honduras (1,100 MT), Mexico (600 MT), and Guatemala (500 MT), were offset by reductions for Colombia (100 MT).  Exports of 65,200 MT were primarily to Haiti (22,300 MT), Colombia (17,700 MT), Japan (12,700 MT), Honduras (5,500 MT), and South Korea (2,600 MT).  

Soybeans:  Net sales of 1,468,100 MT for 2022/2023 marketing year which began September 1, primarily for China (692,600 MT, including decreases of 13,000 MT), unknown destinations (606,200 MT), Mexico (79,500 MT), Portugal (44,000 MT), and Taiwan (40,400 MT, including 40,000 MT switched from Japan), were offset by reductions for Japan (22,200 MT).  A total of 2,479,800 MT in sales were carried over from the 2021/2022 marketing year, which ended August 31.  Exports for the period ending August 31 of 424,100 MT brought accumulated exports to 57,188,800 MT, down 6 percent from the prior year’s total of 60,570,500 MT.  The primary destinations were China (196,800 MT), Mexico (121,100 MT), Japan (39,300 MT), Costa Rica (23,500 MT), and Colombia (22,900 MT).  Exports of 46,600 MT for September 1, were to Algeria (46,100 MT), Canada (300 MT), and Japan (200 MT).

Optional Origin: For 2021/2022, new optional origin sales totaling 300 MT reported for South Korea were carried over from the 2022/2023 marketing year, which ended August 31.  The current optional origin outstanding balance is 300 MT, all South Korea. 

Export for Own Account: For 2021/2022, new exports for own account totaling 6,300 MT reported for Canada were carried over from the 2022/2023 marketing year, which ended August 31.  The current exports for own account outstanding balance is 6,300 MT, all Canada.

Soybean Cake and Meal:  Net sales of 38,900 MT for 2021/2022 primarily for Mexico (20,400 MT, including decreases of 1,100 MT), the Dominican Republic (5,300 MT), the Philippines (4,500 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), Canada (3,300 MT, including decreases of 1,700 MT), and Qatar (3,000 MT), were offset by reductions for Belgium (2,600 MT), Ecuador (2,000 MT), unknown destinations (1,200 MT), and Honduras (300 MT).  For 2022/2023, net sales of 123,000 MT primarily for Ecuador (50,000 MT), Ireland (33,500 MT), El Salvador (15,500 MT), Honduras (15,400 MT), and the Dominican Republic (15,000 MT), were offset by reductions primarily for Spain (25,000 MT) and Canada (6,700 MT).  Exports of 197,400 MT were primarily to the Philippines (50,200 MT), Mexico (30,900 MT), Honduras (30,900 MT), Canada (30,300 MT), and Ecuador (27,000 MT).

Soybean Oil:  Net sales of 1,500 MT for 2021/2022 were primarily for Canada (1,100 MT).  Exports of 9,600 MT were to Guatemala (4,300 MT), Jamaica (3,500 MT), Canada (1,400 MT), and Mexico (400 MT).  

Cotton:  Net sales of 230,700 RB for 2022/2023 primarily for China (61,000 RB, including decreases of 700 RB), Vietnam (48,500 RB, including 2,000 RB switched from South Korea and decreases of 100 RB), Pakistan (36,800 RB, including decreases of 100 RB), Costa Rica (26,400 RB), and El Salvador (18,000 RB), were offset by reductions primarily for South Korea (2,000 RB), Nicaragua (1,100 RB).  Net sales of 101,000 RB for 2023/2024 were reported for Indonesia (79,200 RB), El Salvador (9,000 RB), Pakistan (7,900 RB), Honduras (4,400 RB), and Japan (500 RB).  Exports of 235,400 RB were primarily to China (51,000 RB), Turkey (43,900 RB), Vietnam (40,300 RB), Mexico (27,300 RB), and Pakistan (13,400 RB).  Net sales of Pima totaling 900 RB reported for Thailand (1,000 RB) and Pakistan (200 RB), were offset by reductions for Egypt (300 RB).  Exports of 700 RB were primarily to India (300 RB).   

Optional Origin Sales: For 2022/2023, options were exercised to export 800 RB to Pakistan from the United States.  The current outstanding balance of 10,300 RB is for Malaysia (9,300 RB) and Pakistan (1,000 RB).

Export for Own Account: For 2022/2023, the current exports for own account outstanding balance of 78,200 RB is for China (41,300 RB), Vietnam (23,900 RB), Turkey (10,600 RB), India (1,500 RB), Pakistan (500 RB), and Indonesia (400 RB). 

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 267,600 pieces for 2022 were primarily for China (170,000 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 7,000 pieces), South Korea (44,900 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 200 pieces), Mexico (39,700 whole cattle hides, including decreases of 1,400 pieces), Colombia (6,700 whole cattle hides), and Turkey (6,000 whole cattle hides), were offset by reductions primarily for Thailand (5,500 pieces) and Indonesia (500 pieces).  Exports of 396,200  whole cattle hides exports were primarily to China (269,600 pieces), Mexico (39,900 pieces), Thailand (21,900 pieces), South Korea (19,200 pieces), and Brazil (10,400 pieces). 

Net sales of 136,500 wet blues for 2022 were primarily for Vietnam (60,100 unsplit), China (28,100 unsplit), Taiwan (21,400 unsplit), Italy (20,600 unsplit, including decreases of 5,800 unsplit), and Mexico (2,600 unsplit).  Total net sales reductions of 1,300 wet blues for 2023 were for Italy.  Exports of 119,100 wet blues were primarily to China (36,700 unsplit), Vietnam (32,400 unsplit), Thailand (18,200 unsplit), Italy (16,000 unsplit and 2,200 grain splits), and Taiwan (9,600 unsplit).  Net sales of 90,600 splits were reported for China (86,000 pounds), South Korea (2,600 pounds), and Vietnam (2,000 pounds).  Exports of 218,400 pounds were to China (134,400 pounds) and Vietnam (84,000 pounds). 

Beef:  Net sales of 12,100 MT for 2022 primarily for Japan (5,100 MT, including decreases of 300 MT), South Korea (2,500 MT, including decreases of 700 MT), Taiwan (1,800 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), Mexico (900 MT, including decreases of 200 MT), and the Philippines (400 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), were offset by reductions for China (600 MT).  Total net sales of 100 MT for 2023 were for Japan.  Exports of 16,700 MT were primarily to Japan (4,300 MT), South Korea (4,300 MT), China (3,400 MT), Mexico (1,300 MT), and Taiwan (700 MT). 

Pork:  Net sales of 36,400 MT for 2022 primarily for China (17,100 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), Mexico (12,100 MT, including decreases of 500 MT), Japan (2,500 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), the Dominican Republic (2,400 MT, including decreases of 100 MT), and Colombia (1,800 MT), were offset by reductions for Australia (3,400 MT).  Exports of 24,800 MT were primarily to Mexico (9,400 MT), Japan (4,300 MT), China (4,000 MT), South Korea (2,600 MT), and Canada (1,500 MT).
