USDA TO PROMOTE U.S. FOOD AND BEVERAGE PRODUCTS AT TRADE SHOW IN SPAIN

WASHINGTON, Jan. 6, 2010—The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) and Reed Exhibitions today invited companies with U.S. food and beverage products to exhibit in the USA Pavilion at ALIMENTARIA BARCELONA 2010 in Barcelona, Spain, March 22-26, 2010.

ALIMENTARIA BARCELONA is a leading international trade exhibition for the food and beverage industry and will likely rank among the three largest in Europe in 2010. ALIMENTARIA BARCELONA 2008 welcomed more than 5,000 exhibitors and attracted over 158,000 buyers, nearly a third from outside of Spain.

Total U.S. exports of agricultural, fish and forestry products to Spain totaled nearly $1 billion in fiscal year 2009, making it the 20th largest export market.

Exhibiting in the USA Pavilion at ALIMENTARIA BARCELONA will provide U.S. exporters and distributors with an easy, cost-effective way to promote food and beverage products. Exhibitors also will have an opportunity to learn first-hand about regional market trends.

Products with strong prospects for U.S. exports to this region include: dried fruits and nuts; in-shell sunflower seeds; dried peas, beans, and lentils; rice; food ingredients; bakery ingredients; processed fruits and vegetables; snack foods and confectionary; sauces and marinades; wine; seafood; organic products.

For more information about exhibiting in the USA Pavilion at ALIMENTARIA BARCELONA, contact Cristina Fuoco, Reed Exhibitions, at (203) 840-5976, or by e-mail at cfuoco@reedexpo.com. You may also contact Sharon Cook, USDA/FAS, at (202) 720-3425, or by e-mail at Sharon.Cook@fas.usda.gov.
