                                                                 U.S. EXPORT SALES FOR WEEKENDING 7/21/2016 

Cotton:   Net upland sales totaling 44,600 RB for 2015/2016--a marketing-year low--were down 38 percent from the previous week and 54 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Vietnam (28,800 RB, including 500 RB switched from Japan and decreases of 300 RB), China (13,100 RB, including 4,300 MT switched from Hong Kong and 700 RB switched from South Korea), Indonesia (7,900 RB, including 600 RB switched from Japan), Thailand (6,000 RB, including 1,100 RB switched from Indonesia), Guatemala (2,300 RB, switched from El Salvador), and India (1,500 RB).  Reductions were reported for South Korea (9,000 RB), Hong Kong (4,300 RB), El Salvador (2,300 RB), and Japan (1,600 RB).   For 2016/2017, net sales of 190,100 RB reported primarily for China (50,100 RB), Indonesia (41,000 RB), Pakistan (32,900 RB), and Vietnam (24,100 RB), were partially offset by reductions for Japan (4,600 RB), Taiwan (1,300 RB), and Colombia (300 RB).  Exports of 181,500 RB were down 2 percent from the previous week and 17 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Vietnam (42,900 RB), Indonesia (26,600 RB), Mexico (19,500 RB), Turkey (18,200 RB), China (17,300 RB), and South Korea (8,700 RB).  Net sales of Pima totaling 300 RB for 2015/2016--a marketing-year low--were down 97 percent from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for China (300 RB) and Thailand (100 RB, switched from Japan), were partially offset by reductions for Japan (100 RB).  For 2016/2017, net sales of 42,600 RB were reported primarily for Pakistan (24,500 RB), India (9,300 RB), China (7,900 RB), and Germany (900 RB).  Exports of 11,000 RB were up 45 percent from the previous week and 30 percent from the 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (3,600 RB), India (1,700 RB), Peru (1,500 RB), and Thailand (1,200 RB). 

Exports for Own Account: New exports for own account totaling 23,300 RB were reported to China (500 RB) and Indonesia (22,800 RB).  Exports for own account totaling 800 RB to China were applied to new or outstanding sales.  The current outstanding balance of 62,400 RB is for China (34,000 RB), Indonesia (22,800 RB), and Vietnam (5,600 RB).
